I've ditched my local phone company and there over-priced, under customer serviced, hassle laden plan for a one stop shopping alternative. I've been nervous about changing my phone service over to VoIP, but those feelings went away fast, very fast. The company I chose is Packet 8, which delivers an all in one voice mail, 411, call waiting, caller id plan for under 20 dollars a month. Long distance is included to Canada, with very cheap international rates to Europe and the rest of the world. I chose the Uniden whole house VoIP system which is fantastic! You get a base which doubles as a router, plus a wireless handset which covers the whole house. After rebate it costs about 50 dollars, which may have gotten cheaper now? The reception that I'm getting I would rate a 9 almost ten, which in my case being someone hard to please is pretty good. You may get some static if you leave the house, but hey nothing is perfect. My final conclusion is that VoIP has finally arrived and there is no reason for you to pay over inflated phone bills. Packet 8 VoIP : Does it have 911? Yes it's called Enhanced 911 How much? My bill is always under twenty dollars Features? Every feature your phone company charges up the nose for, they include free.
